Constant upheaval

That’s how a therapist recently described the last 18 months of our lives but from looking in from the outside I don’t think
You would know that the last 18 month is our family has semi felt like a roller coaster that the ride operator kept forgetting to stop to let us off.

We have experienced upheaval in communities, in church, in friendships, in medical things, and in places we had planted our roots.

The hard thing about the last 18 months is struggling to understand how you can feel called to be in one place and then how God can ask you to leave because it’s no longer for you.

One thing we have learned through it all is God is never done with your story and he will use it in ways that you never imagined.

I have talked to so many people since leaving a church about church community hurt, religion, and when things don’t feel right it’s ok to question and say this doesn’t feel right or isn’t the place for us anymore. Many times we have been asked how we can even still go to church or even want to still find a place to call a church home. My response has been time and time again that this isn’t how God wants it to be - God didn’t hurt us - people did. Every church is full of broken people and we ourselves are broken.

Knowing when it’s time to walk away from a place because it’s no longer healthy for you is ok. But that does not mean it doesn’t hurt. There is a different kind of grief that happens because you grieve something that is dying in your life but at the same time it’s still very much still alive and that is a different kind of hurt that our hearts have never experienced.

Through it all God knows the path even when we can’t see it.

Every year in October I pick a word on the year and this year God gave me the word Hope - it was very clear almost six month before October when someone at a women’s conference prayed that word over me not knowing it helped me feel so seen in our church hurt. It was a word a friend had clung to in her fight against cancer and at that time I wished I could have a phone call to heaven for her advice. the woman praying over me after we talked said it was my word now.

Perfect for multi ages to have hours of fun playing in the houses, water features, the touch plant house, and so much more!

I loved that there is only one way in and one way out of the gardens so little ones can’t take off running 😆 hello we had a runner with us! But there so stress being in the garden.

The kids loved it and are asking when we can go back again! I see a lot of summer afternoons spent at the gardens this summer!

This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made in business…

I’m pulling the plug on the 30A retreat.

Not because I didn’t believe in it. Not because it wasn’t beautiful. But because sometimes God calls us to build things… and then asks us to lay them down.

This retreat meant so much to me. I felt so deeply called to create it—and I did. But the stars didn’t align this time, and sometimes we have to make really hard, behind-the-scenes calls that no one sees.

When I told the women who had said yes, I was heartbroken. But every single one of them responded with grace, love, and hope.

And that? That was the healing I didn’t know I needed.

Because the truth is—I haven’t felt very magical lately. Life offline has been heavy. This school year was emotionally brutal. And holding all the pieces as a business owner, mom, and woman? It’s a lot.

But this isn’t the end.
This is a pause.
This is a seed.

And I still believe that what’s next will be even more aligned and full of light.

@operformingarts 25/26 Broadway Season was revealed last night it’s their bested Broadway season ever and I’ll take a ticket to every show!!

I might be bias but I think Omaha might have the best season in country next year. No need to head to New York when they are bringing the best of Broadway right here for all of us to experience!
